My name is Deacon….some call me Little Deacon or Booger. I am about 2 ½ to 3 years old. I showed up at First Baptist Church in August of 2006…lost, hungry, and scrawny. While watching me picking at and trying to eat a half-eaten doughnut out on the church grounds, my best bud T found some lunch meat and cheese in the church workroom kitchen. After gobbling it up, he put me on a steady of cat food, and I quickly moved from scrawny to hefty. So now I am on Hills Prescription Diet. I was in therapy for a while suffering from identity crisis, when fellow church member Doc, retired veterinarian, declared that I was a female. We even changed my name briefly to Deaconess. But that was short lived when T took me to Dr. J at the Veterinarian Clinic to be spayed. Imagine everyone’s surprise when it was discovered that I was indeed a male…albeit a neutered one. Anyway I got a free weekend stay at the clinic out of the ordeal. My testimony is: “ I was once lost, but was miraculously found, and am now Deacon, the official mascot of First Baptist Church, Decatur." By the way, the rodent and other varmint population is almost non-existent at the church…so I do earn my keep and very prestigious position. Let me hear from you. Email me at deaconthecat@gmail.com.

Deacon-I heard that MDO was having a Splash Day today...maybe you should have joined in with them!
Arlena and I should have taken you on our Durango, CO and Red River, NM trip--it's a LOT cooler here (low 80's as highs, and 50's as the lows)!!
